- Examine the physical therapist's role as a rehab team member in the management of
patients with prosthetic needs.
- Set-up pre- and post-prosthetic management programs for various level amputees
including shaping and care of the residual limb, exercise and functional training based on
patient's age and medical condition; including safety issues with ADL.
- Identify principles of anatomy and biomechanics to evaluate prosthetic gait (videotaped) and differentiate between prosthetic and anatomical causes of abnormal gait patterns.
- Make recommendations and provide direct training for amputees to correct prosthetic gait abnormalities.
- Develop a comprehensive treatment plan for the amputee patient.
